Edmund Alexander Lanquaye Bannerman

Edmund Alexander Lanquaye Bannerman was a leading lawyer and politician in Ghana. He had with the post of Chief Justice of Ghana held the highest judicial office and also a constitutional key position in the country. Bannerman Edward Akufo - Addo was followed in the office of Chief Justice in 1970 and was the fourth Chief Justices of independent Ghana. Bannerman 's successor was Samuel Azu Crabbe in 1972.

Bannerman lost after the military coup of January 13, Ignatius Kutu Acheampong 1972 his post. Acheampong smashed the Supreme Court, the Supreme Court of the country and dismissed three senior judges, including Bannerman, from office. Besides Bannerman were judges Koi Larbi and J. B. Siriboe dismissed from office.
