Edmund " Ede " Becker ( born July 18, 1956 in Reichenbach ) is a former German football player and coach.

During his active years as a professional football player who came from near Karlsruhe Edmund Becker from 1977 to 1986 played continuously at Karlsruher SC. The midfield and defender scored in 94 Premier League matches and 63 second division matches 19 goals and saw a total of only 11 yellow cards. His greatest success with the KSC in 1981 was a 10th place in the Bundesliga. He also belonged to the legendary KSC team FC Bayern Munich in the spring of 1982 under coach Max Merkel defeated 4-1 and so managed to avoid relegation.

After his playing career, which allowed Becker fade away in his home at TSV Reichenbach, was Edmund Becker coach of the amateur team of the KSC and assistant coach of the professionals. As in the winter break of the season 2004/05 as coach of the first team unexpectedly shortly ended by, only seven -day " term of office " by Reinhold Fanz became vacant, Becker went from 13th January 2005 as the new coach of the first team.

In the context of the association and under the KSC fans Becker initially enjoyed a very strong support, which on one hand was at its origin from the Karlsruhe area, on the other hand on his quiet, down- to-earth character, and not least by his successes. Because in terms of sport, began his tenure a new departure for the crisis-hit club in previous years. Abolished Edmund Becker in his first season with the team just under the league in the 2nd Bundesliga, so did taking place under his direction continual development of the team from the 2005/06 season, the first sporting successes. The KSC played first time in years in order to climb with, and ended the season in sixth place in the table. The following season showed that Becker along with his coaching staff was able to form a team that could measure up to the second division top. With an attack-minded game philosophy of Karlsruher SC was sovereign master of the 2nd Bundesliga 2006/ 07 and thus promotion to the 1st Bundesliga.

During the season 2008/ 09 there were increasingly critical of the person Beckers; particular error in the preparation and the lack of adjustment of the team he was accused of. After the descent of the KSC end of the season, the club's management nevertheless held firmly to Becker, so that the KSC kicked off the second division season 2009/10 with him. After two games without a win, however, Becker was on leave on 19 August 2009. Once there were more personnel changes in the leadership of the club Karlsruher SC, Becker was offered the sporting management of junior center, which he took over in the summer of 2010.
