Edmund Dalbor

Edmund Cardinal Dalbor ( born October 30, 1869 in Ostrowo, Posen Province, † February 13, 1926 in Poznan, Poland) was Archbishop of Gniezno ( Gniezno ) and Poznan as well as primate of Poland.

Life

Edmund Dalbor studied in Münster, Gniezno, Poznan and the subjects of Rome Catholic theology and philosophy and received on February 25, 1893 Sacrament of Holy Orders. In 1894 he received his doctorate at the Pontifical Gregorian University for Doctor of Canon Law.

From 1893 to 1915 he worked as a counselor, lecturer and canonist in Poznan, where he presided as vicar general of the administration of the diocese from 1909. In 1915 he received the appointment as Archbishop of Gniezno and Poznań. He received episcopal ordination on 21 September 1915 the Archbishop of Cologne, Cardinal Felix von Hartmann. On February 13, 1926 Edmund Dalbor died and was buried in the Cathedral of Gniezno.
