Edmund Davies, Baron Edmund-Davies

Herbert Edmund Edmund- Davies, Baron Edmund- Davies, of Aberpennar in the County of Mid Glamorgan ( born July 15, 1906 in Mountain Ash, Mid Glamorgan, † December 26, 1992 ) was a British lawyer who most recently as Lord of Appeal in Ordinary Life in 1876 as a peer was also a member of the House of Lords because of the Appellate jurisdiction Act.

Life

Attorney, Recorder and High Court Judge

Davies graduated after school to study law at King's College London, and with financial support from a Vinerian Scholarship at Exeter College, University of Oxford. After graduation he received in 1929 his legal approval to the Chamber of Lawyers ( Inns of Court ) of Gray 's Inn, but worked 1930-1931, first as a lecturer at the London School of Economics ( LSE), before he then took up a job as a barrister.

At the beginning of World War II he served his military service as a reserve officer in the Royal Welch Fusiliers in 1942 and only Recorder ( magistrates ) of Merthyr Tydfil, then 1944-1953 Swansea and, most recently 1953-1958 Recorder of Cardiff. At the same time, he served 1953-1964 as Chairman of the quarter court ( Court of Quarter Sessions ) of Denbighshire.

1958 Davies was appointed to the charge of England and Wales High Court of Justice, where he worked until 1966 as a judge in the chamber for civil matters ( Queen's Bench Division ). In addition, he was made a Knight Bachelor in 1958 and led henceforth the additional name "Sir".

Lord Justice and the House of Lords member

After completing his work at the High Court of Justice in 1966 his appeal to the judge ( Lord Justice of Appeal ) at the Court of Appeal, which is responsible for England and Wales Court of Appeal, where he worked until 1974. In addition, he was appointed to the Privy Councillor in 1966.

Last Davies was appointed by Letters Patent of October 1, 1974 due to the Appellate Jurisdiction Act 1876 as a Life peer with the title Baron Edmund- Davies, of Aberpennar in the County of Mid Glamorgan member of the House of Lords to the nobility and worked until to his resignation on 30 September 1981 as Lord Justice (Lord of Appeal in Ordinary).
