Edmund Hogan

Edmund Ignatius Hogan (Irish Éamonn Ó hÓgáin, born January 25, 1831 in Cork, † November 26, 1917 ) was an Irish historian, linguist, Roman Catholic theologian, priest and Jesuit from the environment of the Irish Renaissance. As a member of the Royal Irish Academy and professor at University College Dublin, he was the author of numerous books on Irish history and language and translated in addition also several works of Irish literature from the Gaelic into English.
