Edna Best

Edna Best (actually Edna Hove, born March 3, 1900 in Hove / East Sussex, England; † September 18, 1974 in Geneva, Switzerland ) was a British actress.

She gave her film debut in 1921; her breakthrough came, however, only in 1934 in the Alfred Hitchcock film The Man Who Knew Too Much. In 1959 she retired from acting.

In 1957 she was nominated for an Emmy Award for her portrayal of Ethel in This Happy Breed. In addition, she was honored for her contribution to the film with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Edna Best was married three times, including 1928 to 1940 with the actor Herbert Marshall. 1933 their daughter Sarah Marshall was born, which is also active as an actress.
