Edness K. Wilkins State Park

Edness K. Wilkins State Park is a state park east of Casper on the North Platte River in Natrona County, Wyoming. It is named after Edness Kimball Wilkins, a local politician who died in 1980. The park covers 362 acres.

History

In 1981, the land was acquired for approximately 380,000 U.S. dollars. The following year, work began on the construction of roads and parking lots as well as the landscaping began.

Tourist use

In addition to a section of the North Platte River Edness K. Wilkins State Park includes a forest of bastard black poplars, and open areas. Next offer three ponds with sandy beaches, recreational opportunities and the North Platte River can be used for canoeing, rafting and fishing. More than 200 bird species have been recorded in the park, including Yellow-billed Cuckoos, stone and bald eagles, cormorants, Eckschwanzsperber and 16 species of ducks. Overnight accommodations are not in the park.
