Édouard Pingret

Edouard Henri Théophile Pingret ( born December 30, 1788 in Saint- Quentin, Aisne, † in Saint -Quentin 1875) was a French painter and lithographer.

Pingret studied painting with Jacques -Louis David and Jean -Baptiste Regnault, he also attended the Accademia di San Luca in Rome. In 1831 awarded the title of Chevalier de la Légion d' Honneur was awarded. From 1850 to 1855 he lived and worked in Mexico City, where he exhibited annually at the Academia de Bellas Artes. He created outstanding portraits, including of Napoleon Bonaparte (1808 ) and General Mariano Arista (1851, Mexico City, Museo Nacional de Historia ). Among his most important works in Mexico include the representation of Mexican customs and landscapes. It was also an illustrator of Monographs such as from Voyage de SM Louis -Philippe Ier Roi des Francais au Chateau de Winsdor. Dedie A S. M. Victoria, Reine d' Angleterre.
