The destroyer escort of the Edsall class were built and used for convoy escort service. Here, their main task was the defense of U- boat attacks and, if possible, the destruction of one or more submarines. The lead ship of this class was the USS Edsall (DE- 129).

- USS Frederick C. Davis ( DE -136 ) - torpedoed by U 546 and gesunkem on April 24, 1945 in the North Atlantic
- USS Fiske (DE- 143) - torpedoed by U 804 and sunk on 2 August 1944 north of the Azores
- USS Leopold (DE -319) - torpedoed by U 371 and sunk on March 9, 1944 south of Iceland
- USS Holder ( DE -401 ) - damaged on 11 April 1944 in the vicinity of Algeria by a German plane

- USS Forster ( DE -334 ) - sold to South Vietnam. Renamed to Tran Khanh Du ( HQ- 04). With the capture of Saigon by North Vietnam captured, renamed Dai Ky ( HQ- 03) and used as a training boat.
