Eduard Georg von Wahl

Edward George of choice ( 19 * Februarjul / March 3 1833greg in Vatla, then rural community Karuse, today rural community Hanila, Estonia, .. .. † 17 Januarjul / January 29 1890greg in Tartu ) was an deutschbaltischer physicians.

Life and work

Edward of choice first attended the private educational institution Birkenruh near the Livonian Apply. From 1851 he studied mineralogy, natural sciences and medicine at the University of Dorpat. 1859 doctorate of choice for Dr. med He then continued his education in Berlin and Paris, after which he settled in 1860 as a private doctor in St. Petersburg, but also worked as a surgeon in hospitals. From 1867 to 1876 he was Head of the Department of Surgery named after Prince Peter of Oldenburg Children's Hospital.

Eduard von election was called in 1876 to the chair of state Pharmacology at the University of Dorpat. He gave the University an acquired property from private funds in Dorpat, that he wrote with colleagues - despite numerous governmental and societal Resistors - 1877 upgraded to a psychiatric hospital. In 1878 he was appointed professor of surgery. Later, it was also the director of choice of the surgical clinic in Dorpat.
