Edvard Eriksen

Edvard Christian Johannes Eriksen ( born March 10, 1876 in Copenhagen, † January 12, 1959 ) was a Danish naturalist sculptor who created the Little Mermaid in Copenhagen among others.

Edvard Eriksen in 1895 was trained as a sculptor. After 1902 a first work had been accepted for an exhibition in Charlotte Borg ( " Det Bodes the for " dt " The Penitent " ) meant the 1904 breakthrough of his career as the State Art Museum his work " all were " (hope) bought up and he was awarded in 1905 for " Dommen " ( fate ). In 1908, he received an order for three marble statues for the tomb of Christian IX. and his wife Louise in Roskilde Cathedral, in the " worry Erindringen above Kærligheden " ( mourning, remembrance and affection ) can still be seen today.

Eriksen's most famous work is " The lille Havfrue " ( The Little Mermaid ), which was established on 23 August 1913, the Promenade long line.

Edvard Eriksen Eline married in 1900 Vilhelmine Møller ( born February 6, 1881 † September 24, 1963 ) and had five children with her. He was an honorary professor at the Art Academy of Carrara and in 1932 was elevated to Knight of the Dannebrog.
