Edvard Hugo von Zeipel

Edvard Hugo von Zeipel ( born February 8, 1873 in Österhaninge in Stockholm, † 1959) was a Swedish astronomer.

He worked from 1897 to 1900 at the observatory in Stockholm, and from 1901 to 1902 at the Pulkovo Observatory. From 1904 to 1906 he was a member of the staff of the Paris Observatory, and from 1911 he was at the Astronomical Observatory of Uppsala active. His areas of expertise were celestial mechanics, astrophotography and Theoretical Astrophysics.

In the years 1998, 1901 and 1902, he participated in scientific expeditions to Svalbard.

Edvard Hugo von Zeipel is the namesake for the crater of Zeipel on Earth's Moon and the asteroid discovered on 6 March 1992 ( 8870 ) of Zeipel.
