Edward Davies (Pennsylvania)

Edward Davies ( * November 1779 in Churchtown, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, † May 17, 1853 ) was an American politician. Between 1837 and 1841 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Edward Davies attended the common schools and then worked in agriculture and trade. Politically, he was a member of the Anti- Masonic Party. In the years 1834 and 1835, he was a member of the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. In the congressional elections of 1836 he was in the fourth electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of William Muhlenberg Hiester on March 4, 1837. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1841 two legislative sessions.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Edward Davies took his previous activities on again. He died on 17 May 1853 in Churchtown, where he was also buried.
