Edward Fraenkel

Edward Ludwig Fraenkel, named Edward, LE Fraenkel often quoted, ( born May 28, 1927 in Kiel ) is a German-born British mathematician who deals with analysis.

Fraenkel, the son of Eduard Fraenkel, studied at Cambridge University (Queen 's College ). 1964 to 1968 he was Lecturer and Fellow there. He was a professor at the University of Sussex in Brighton and most recently a professor at the University of Bath.

In 1989 he was awarded the Senior Whitehead Prize. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society (1993).
