Edward Smouha

Edward Smouha ( Ralph Edward "Teddy" Smouha, born December 17, 1909 in Chorlton -cum-Hardy, Manchester, † April 1, 1992 in Geneva, Switzerland ) was a British sprinter.

At the Olympic Games in 1928 he won the 4 x 100 meters relay with the British team in the cast Cyril Gill, Smouha, Walter Rangeley and Jack London, the bronze behind the relay races in the United States and Germany.

Edward Smouha studied at the University of Cambridge and was called to the Bar in 1930. His father Joseph Smouha was a Jewish businessman, who came from Iraq. During the Second World War was Edward Smouha Wing Commander in the Royal Air Force. In the 1970s, he was awarded the Order of the British Empire.
