Edward Sturing
Edward Jeroen Sturing ( born June 13, 1963 in Apeldoorn) is a Dutch football coach and former professional player who was active at De Graafschap Doetinchem and SBV Vitesse in Arnhem. Three times he came to the national team for use.

Association
Sturing played in the youth at the Go Ahead Eagles Deventer and began his professional career in the 1982/83 season at De Graafschap in the Eerste Divisie. The defender captured in the following season a regular place in the team. He played five years in the counties Tern, before he moved to league rivals SBV Vitesse Arnhem Doetinchem. Here he belonged from the beginning to the first team of coach Bert Jacobs, the 1988/89 thanks to goals from leading scorer John van den Brom managed to carve out two years later as a master of the second division season in the Eredivisie.
In his first season in the top division was Sturing the Gouden Schoen, awarded the " Golden Boot " for the best players in the Premier Division. With him Vitesse could not just keep the class, but qualified the same with a fourth place for the first time for an international competition. The most successful period of Arnhem in the 1990s with the name Sturing, van den Brom, Theo Bos, Martin Laamers, Bart Latuheru - up to Bos all acquired during this time made it into the national team - and the young Phillip Cocu linked. In Sturings nine years with Vitesse in the Eredivisie, the club finished only once a season on a worse than fifth place. Five times overall, qualifying the team from the lower Rhine at this time - first with coach Jacobs, then under Herbert Neumann and most recently the technical director Leo Beenhakker and coach Henk ten Cate - for the UEFA Cup. 1997 Sturing was voted " Vitesse player of the season ". In Sturings last season 1997/98 the club won a third place behind Ajax Amsterdam and PSV Eindhoven the best league placing the club's history; the Greek Nikos Machlas, successor of migrated to Spain Roy Makaay, scored 34 league goals this season.
In his last game for Vitesse, a 2-1 home victory on 3 May 1998 against Feyenoord, Edward Sturing was replaced der Hoeven in the 65th minute against Jochem van. This Sturing ended after more than 200 Eredivisiespielen for Vitesse his active career.

National
Sturing came on 20 December 1989 against Brazil under Bondscoach Thijs Libregts to his first international cap. Occasion of the friendly match was the 100th anniversary of the KNVB. Since many key players such as Ruud Gullit, Marco van Basten and Frank Rijkaard had canceled, called Bondscoach Thijs Libregts some players in the squad who had no international match experience. So Sturing debuted well in the starting lineup as his team-mate Bart Latuheru Arnhem and the Volendam Frank Berghuis; Martin Laamers, which formed the right flank at Vitesse with Sturing and Latuheru, came after the break also his first appearance in the Orange jersey. In contrast to the Dutch Brazil was begun in de Kuip with the best team. However, the Oranje could keep open the game, led by the German referee Werner Föckler long; in the 55th minute but Careca scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory for the Brazilians.
While it remained in the senior team for the winger Berghuis and Latuheru the only use, Sturing belonged in the next friendly match on February 21, 1990 again in the squad. In the goalless draw against Italy, again in Rotterdam, he came to the half-time for Rijkaard to the square. Also for the next match of the defender was allowed to fly to Kiev and play in the 1-2 defeat against the Soviet Union another 90 minutes. After the change of interim coach Nol de Ruiter to Leo Beenhakker Sturing was taken into account neither for the other pre-season games yet for the World Cup squad for Italy; his international career was ended after three operations.
Coach
Even as a player Sturing had trained the C1 youth Vitesse and in this case formed later internationals like Stijn Schaars and Nicky court. After his playing career, he went seamlessly from player to assistant coach at the Arnheimern over and was there more active in youth work. After a little over a year he took over together with the second Cotrainer January Jongbloed end of October 1999 after the dismissal Herbert Neumann for two months for the first time in an interim coaching duo responsible for the Eredivisiemannschaft. After Ronald Koeman's commitment both stepped back into second place. In December 2001, Koeman joined the AFC Ajax Amsterdam. Sturing about this time took sole responsibility for the team and led the team to the end of the season in fifth place in the table and the ninth UEFA Cup participation. For the 2002/03 season, the club with Mike Snoei undertook again a new coach, which was, however, released in March 2003. Sturing was the third time in charge of the team, could now remain in this position, although only 14th place was reached on the end of the season. For three seasons, he was then head coach of Vitesse and led the team to 16th place in the season 2003/ 04 back to the safe middle of the Eredivisie.
In 2006 he became head of the youth department at PSV Eindhoven. A year later, the club was awarded the prize for the best club youth work in the Netherlands. Sturing remained until 2008 when the PSV before he held Cotrainer by Hans Westerhof went back to Vitesse for the season 2008/ 09. As had been four days after the dismissal Westerhofs Sturings former teammate Theo Bos committed as head coach, he resigned his office and worked until the end of the season as a scout and game analyst. Reason was that the two former players were at odds, since Sturing Bos had not wanted during his time as head coach as his assistant.
At the beginning of the season 2009/10 undertook the FC Volendam, relegated from the Eredivisie, on loan Sturing as head coach. From this post he resigned in February 2010; the team's performance in the Eerste Divisie was left with an accomplished up to this point 14 table place far short of expectations.
