Edward Twining, Baron Twining

Edward Francis Twining, Baron Twining GCMG MBE, mostly known as Sir Edward Twining ( born June 29, 1899 in London, † June 21, 1967 ibid ), was a member of the British aristocracy and Governor of British North Borneo and Tanganyika.

Life

Twining was a member of the famous tea merchant family Twining and arrived in London's Marylebone, to the world. In the Irish War of Independence he served as an officer in the rank group of lieutenants in the Worcestershire Regiment and was appointed at the Éamon de Valera to arrest members of the Order of the British Empire ( MBE).

As a colonial administrator, he served in Uganda, Mauritius and was from 1944 to 1946 Commissioner of St. Lucia.

On 5 May 1949 he was Governor and Commander in Chief of North Borneo and was followed on 18 June 1949 to June 1958 Governor of Tanganyika. He died in London's Westminster.
