Edwin H. Colpitts

Edwin Henry Colpitts ( born January 19, 1872 in New Brunswick, Canada, † March 6, 1949 ) was an electrical engineer. According to him, the Colpitts circuit is named.

Colpitts studied at Harvard University until 1897. He worked until 1902 at the American Bell Telephone Company and then at the Western Electric Company in New York City, where he was Director of Research, 1911.

Upon his retirement in 1937, he was Vice President of Bell Telephone Laboratories.
