Edwin Hall

Edwin Herbert Hall ( born November 7, 1855 in Great Falls ( Maine), † November 20, 1938 in Cambridge, Massachusetts ) was an American physicist.

In 1879, he discovered later named after him Hall effect. This discovery occurred in connection with his doctoral thesis under Henry Augustus Rowland. From 1881 to 1921 he conducted research at Harvard University in the field of thermoelectricity and worked on galvanomagnetic and thermoelectric phenomena.
