Edzard Cirksena

Edzard Cirksenas (* unknown, † 1441 ) was chief to Greetsiel, North, Emden and Brokmerland.

His father Enno Cirksenas and he had (also spelled Sirtzena, Syrtza or Zyertza ) the last two Erbtöchter the eminent family of Syardsna Berum married and adopted their surname, Edzard probably wrote the first Cirksenas. This notation has been retained by all descendants.

From his father he had inherited the dominion over almost all of Ostfriesland, albeit without the Harlingerland. He died in 1441, one day after his wife Gela, of the plague.
