Eekholt Wildlife Park

The wildlife park Eekholt is a wildlife park, which extends over parts of the municipalities Großenaspe Bimöhlen and Heidmühlen in Segeberg (Schleswig -Holstein). It is home to about 100 central European species with over 700 animals in an area of ​​67 hectares, which has been designed close to nature.

Through the middle of the park, which is characterized by the natural areas forest and marsh, the Osterau, with adjacent Auwiesen flows. The wildlife park was originally founded in 1970 by Hans -Heinrich Hatlapa as deer research enclosure. Special emphasis is placed on the experience of nature. The park also serves as a training center for environmental education.

The wildlife filmmaker Heinz Sielmann has turned some animal and television films about the local wildlife in the wildlife park Eekholt. In the park there is also the language in the hunter so designated Bless wild, a rare color variant of the red deer.

The northern part of the game park, called moor and heath is a recognized Naturerlebnisraum in Schleswig -Holstein.
