Eemmeer

The Eemmeer (Dutch sea - the sea ) is a 1340 -acre lake in the Netherlands, which was created through land reclamation in the former Zuiderzee. It is largely the border between the province of Utrecht and Flevoland. It is named after the river Eem the Eemmeer, which flows thereinto in the south.

The Eemmeer is connected at the western end of the Gooi- and connected the east with the Veluwerandmeeren. Depending on the source counts nor the directly adjacent to Nijkerkernauw Eemmeer.

In Eemmeer there is a man-made island, De Dode Hond ( in German: The dead dog). Much of the island is a bird sanctuary and may not be entered.
