History

The Hockey Division was established in 2005 after the football club Esbjerg fB acquired the professional license of Esbjerg IK for the AL-Bank Ligaen and its sports facilities extended to hockey. The Esbjerg IK was one of the most successful Danish Hockey clubs, but is only a pure youth and amateur club since the sale of licenses. The greatest success of EfB Ishockey after the license change was so far reaching the play-off semi-final in the 2006/07 season, when they lost the Herning Blue Fox with 1:4 victories. Since the 2010/11 season, the Swede and former NHL player Tomas Jonsson is head coach of the club.

The biggest rivals of EfB Ishockey are due to the proximity between the venues the Herning Blue Fox and SønderjyskE Ishockey.
