EFEO Chinese transcription
The EFEO transcription is a transliteration of the Chinese language, which was developed at the beginning of the 20th century by scientists at the École française d' Extrême -Orient.
Importance
In the French -speaking world the EFEO transcription was until the mid-20th century, the most common transliteration for the Chinese. Meanwhile, it was replaced by the pinyin system.
Basics
The EFEO transcription is not similar to today's debate norm of the standard Chinese, but also reflects - as Latinxua Sinwenz and older versions of Wade- Giles - a national standard or an older sound inventory resist.
