Efficiency (basketball)
The effectiveness represents a reference value with a player of a basketball game, the performance can be made assessable and comparable. It is calculated according to the formula
Effectiveness = ( Points Rebounds Assists Steals Blocks Shot ) - ( (Number throw attempts - Number transformed litters ) (number of free throw attempts - number changed free throws ) turnover )
This efficiency value will also be included in the official statistics of the National Basketball League.
Criticism
Is criticized in this effectiveness value that the service life of the player not included in the calculation and that there is no weighting of the incoming variables. An evaluation which takes into account these factors, the Player Efficiency Rating (PER ), which could, however, not been widely adopted owing to its complexity in the official statistics.
