The Efjord

The Efjord ( Sami: Áhtávuodna ) is a 35 km long and 150 m deep fjord partly in the municipality Ballangen in the province of Nordland. The fjord is approximately 15 km from the Swedish border.

There are three bridges over the Efjord, of which the European Route 6 crosses the fjord.

Fauna

In Efjord there are large fish stocks. Well represented are in the summer and autumn of cod, cusk, pollock, haddock, pollack, mackerel, halibut, pollock, wolffish, redfish and monkfish; in the winter especially herring.

At sea birds, among others come Puffins and oystercatchers ago.

Tourism

The fjord is very popular with hikers, mountain climbers, divers and anglers. In the latter, especially the fishing area Efjord Sjøhus.
