Egbert the One-Eyed

Eckhart from Ambergau, the one-eyed, (also Egbert, Egbert ) (c. 932; † April 994 ) was Count Amber and Derlingau, Vogt of the diocese of Munster and Lord of Alaburg.

He was the son of Bill Unger Count Wichmann I. in Bardengau ( the Elder; 900-944 ) ( and Frederuna of Westphalia or Bia of Engern ). Mother's side a nephew of Queen Matilda.

He stood on the side of the Liudolf.

From inheritance disputes resulted in an enmity to his uncle Hermann Billung, the successful rival of his father to win the favor of Otto I. That's why he participated in 953 with his brother Wichmann II on Liudolfingischen uprising.

957 he was pardoned.

977 he struggled to pursue its claims, with Henry the Wrangler against Otto II 977/78 he was in custody at Bishop Folkmar of Utrecht. After Otto's death, he supported the 984 King Henry's plans, which he (instead of George Hill Church or on the Steinberg possibly located on the George Hill) held the Emperor 's daughter Adelheid hostage in his castle Ala at Goslar. The castle was then stormed and destroyed.
