Egelsee (Kärnten)

The Egelsee ( formerly called Ecksee ) is a bog lake in Carinthia, Austria, and is situated on the hills (650 m above sea level. A. ) between Millstaetter lake and the lower Drau Valley. Description

The bog lake with an area of 9.35 ha is completely surrounded by rocking on the water quaking bog. Due to its location in the midst of a vast moor his water color is deep brown. About a kilometer away from the Egelsee on the trail to the church " St. Wolfgang at the Fratres " is the Cross Stone (830 m). This " blood stone " is said to be the blood of the court Millstaetter Jesuits.
