Yumurta - Ei is the first film of the reverse Yusuf Trilogy Turkish director Semih Kaplanoğlu. The film was shown in 2007 at the 60th International Film Festival in Cannes.

Action

When the poet Yusuf gets the news of the death of his mother, he returns to his native village, which he had long not visited. In a dilapidated house called him a young girl, Ayla, welcome. Yusuf knew nothing of this girl who lived with his mother for five years. This has an appeal to Yusuf. Before his mother died, she asked him to run a sacrificial ceremony that could not realize his mother 's lifetime. Yusuf, who is plagued by guilt and also attracted by the rural atmosphere, agrees. He makes up with Ayla on a four -hour walk to the grave site of a holy man, where the sacrificial ceremony is to take place. Melancholic and without any interest crosses Yusuf familiar places, and by an incident he is forced to face all this, he dodged all the time. When they did not find the breed of ram to be slaughtered there, they need to stay longer than planned in the sepulcher. As a result, Yusuf and Ayla get closer and closer.

Criticism

" All motifs typical of Turkish cinema that you already know from Ceylan or Demirkubuz. But the plot develops more relaxed, less whiny, future-oriented and at times ironic. [ ... ] This developed a great poetic undertow quickly. Kaplanoglu has a rare ability in the smallest hints, almost to tell anything from the pictures. [ ... ] A great camera takes images of harmony and by the time runs aloof eternity, a kind of return to nature -. Although is always casual, never pretentious or difficult fate comes along "
