Eggdrop

In Eggdrop is one of the first IRC bots, which can hold an IRC channel around the clock open and performs special functions when called. He is just like any other user visible. Development started in 1993 by Robey Pointer. Today, the development team about 40 people and a large number of persons who have contributed patches.

It was based in its first versions on the Tcl scripting language, and therefore still based his scripting interface today on this language. The bot itself is now written in C, which makes it necessary for him to compile separately for Linux and for Windows.
