Eggthér

Eggthér ( Old Norse Eggþþér ) is a giant in Norse mythology, who is mentioned in the Völuspá that belongs to the collection of songs of the Poetic Edda, in the time of Ragnarök.

He is described as the guardian of giantesses in the iron forest, sitting on a hill and a harp plucking. In its vicinity the red cock crows Fjalar on the gallows tree, which we interpret as the World Tree Yggdrasill, a sacrificial grove or a bird tree either.
