For Montenegro, whose association had dissolved in 2006 from the previously common federation with Serbia, a special rule applies. The previous common starting place in the Champions League receives since the season 2006/2007 Serbia ( No. 21 ranking ). Montenegro ( 27th place ) can not before 2009 ( after three separate seasons in the European Cup ) get a place in the Champions League on the ranking list. Instead Montenegro gets an additional place in the EHF Cup.

Kosovo has been increasing since the 2006/2007 season with an own association in the European cup competitions. Him a starting place in the EHF Cup, Cup Winners Cup and Challenge Cup were granted in each case. Kosovo is now the only organization that does not receive at least five European places.
