Ehime Prefecture

The Ehime Prefecture (Japanese爱媛 県, Ehime - ken) is one of the four prefectures on the island of Shikoku. She went in 1871 from the province of Iyo forth. Seat of the prefectural government is Matsuyama.

Governor of Ehime is Tokihiro Nakamura, former mayor of Matsuyama. He was elected to succeed the retiring Moriyuki Kato 2010. In the regular 47 - member parliament that was last selected in the regional elections in April 2011, the Liberal Democratic Party holds an absolute majority.

Ins national Parliament sends Ehime four lower house and two Oberhausābgeordnete. The four lower house seats won in 2012 four Liberal Democrats. In the Upper House representing the prefecture after the 2010 elections and 2013, two Liberal Democrats.

With a " financial strength index " ( zaiseiryoku Shisu ) below 0.4 Ehime belonged in the 2000s to the financially weaker prefectures of the country.

Ehime is Japan's top supplier of fruit and famous for its tangerines.

Tourism

In Ōzu the cormorant fishing ( ukai ) is maintained and in Uwajima a certificate from the Ryukyu Islands form of bullfighting ( tōgyū ), which is comparable to the Swiss Cow wrestling.
