History

At the time of the judges, as was Eglon king of Moab, had to serve him for 18 years the Israelites, because they had fallen away from YHWH, and served the Baals. Eglon and his allies, the Ammonites and the Amalekites came against Israel and conquered Jericho. YHWH raised up for them, Ehud the son of Gera, a Benjamite, as a savior. Ehud was left-handed and was King Eglon a gift. During a secret meeting with Eglon he thrust his dagger he had hidden on the right side, the king in the belly and disappeared unnoticed. Since he had hidden the dagger right, it was not noticed. In Seira in the hill country of Ephraim, he called the people of war with a trumpet. They went down to the Jordan, secured the fords and struck the Moabites, a total of 10,000 men.

  • Othniel, the first judge of Israel and the land had had 40 years alone.
  • Ehud was the second judge, and Israel had rest 80 years.
