Eiderdown

The Eiderdown comes from the Eider. This is on the coasts of the northern seas at home, in the whole of Scandinavia, especially in Iceland, but also in Schleswig-Holstein/Eiderstedt. Unlike most other down the Eiderdown is not a protection of the duck from the cold, but serves as a protection for their brood.

In Germany collecting eiderdown already abandoned nests is exclusively permitted. The crop is tapped to separate it of foreign matter. Eiderdown are the most expensive filling for duvets. Prices vary according to daily exchange rate and availability. For ceiling of size 135 × 200 suffice 600-700 g eiderdown for a pleasant year-round blanket. For the made using the finest Mako Daunenbatiste with the highest thread counts ( NM200 ).
