As a result of the acquisition Eidos Interactive was dissolved.

Company History

When the company was founded in 1990, they initially specialized in video compression methods. Only in 1995, with the acquisition of Domark Software, one began with the development of computer games.

With the acquisition of Eidos by the competitors SCi Entertainment in May 2005, the previous Board of Directors met on 17 May 2005, including Ian Livingstone, closed back, and SCi sat among other things, its own chairman (CEO) Jane Cavanagh to the Board of Directors of Eidos. SCi published since then all games under the Eidos label and eventually named in 2008 even in Eidos plc to.

Others

The Eidos GmbH Germany made in 2005, inter alia, stir in the file sharing scene by letting supervise their work by the company Logistep AG in file sharing, and then appropriate warnings with damages claimed by a law firm.

In December 2007, there have been several press releases about Eidos (eg http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/99907 ) who had successfully exerted pressure on the American Games Gamespot to dismiss a salaried editor there. The editor had the game " Kane & Lynch: Dead Men " valued at just 6.0 / 10.0 points and said in a video review, " Kane & Lynch: Dead Men is an ugly, ugly game." Eidos had a large area connected with the advertising portal for Kane & Lynch and the owner of GameSpot, CNet, threatened to cancel the six-figure advertising budget for 2008.

In addition, Eidos advertised at this time on the official website with ratings and test quotes that it had not so given. Details of the website According to Gamespy and Game Informer had given the game five out of five stars or a maximum rating. In Gamespy the game, however, had received three out of five stars, Game Informer, however, does not work with a five - system and had rated the game even with 70 out of 100. The Gamespy quote used on the website was also taken from not the test, but a "Preview". Also, the quote from the Game Informer can not find in the local review. In the German version of the website was also still referred to at this time on a review by Kotaku, where it also reportedly gave five out of five stars. Again, both the rating and said quote does not come from the actual test.

In addition to Eidos in July 2009, according to a blog entry of the RAM Raider publication of tests for the action game Batman: Arkham Asylum have prohibited until the end of the month. Excluded, however, this amount will be magazines, give the game a score of more than 90 points and the " Dark Knight " print on their cover.
