Eighteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution

The 18th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States ( Eighteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution ) was the introduction of alcohol prohibition. It was ratified on 16 January 1919 and entered into force on January 16, 1920. In 1933, he was placed by the 21th Amendment repealed.

Section 1

English

After one year from the ratification of this article the manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors within, the importation thereof into, or the exportation thereof from the United States and all territory subject to the jurisdiction thereof for beverage purposes is hereby prohibited.

After one year after the ratification of this addition the manufacture, sale and transportation of intoxicating liquids inside, and the importation thereof into, and export are the same, banned from the United States of America and all areas where its jurisdiction applies, so they are intended to be eaten.

Section 2

The Congress and the several States Shall have concurrent power to enforce this article by Appropriate legislation.

Section 3

This article Shall be inoperative Unless it Shall have been ratified as of amendment to the Constitution by the legislatures of the several States, as Provided in the Constitution, within seven years from the date of the submission hereof to the States by the Congress.

This constitutional amendment is ineffective if it is not acknowledged within seven years of the states in a constitutional process as a supplement to the Constitution. The period of seven years beginning with the date of notification of the text to the states by the Congress.
