Eija-Liisa Ahtila

Eija -Liisa Ahtila ( born August 6, 1959 in Hämeenlinna, Finland) is a Finnish filmmaker and video artist. She lives in Helsinki.

In 2000 she won the then worth 50,000 euros Vincent Award ( The Vincent van Gogh Biennial Award for Contemporary Art in Europe). Two years later, a solo exhibition at the Tate Modern in London. In the same year Ahtila was represented at the documenta in Kassel with her video work, The House, in which they spread over three projection screens, the psychosis of a young woman theme that gradually loses the sense of space and time. Based on this work were talks of the artist with psychotic women. 2006 won the Artes Mundi Prize Ahtila.

In 2011 she was appointed to the jury of the 68th International Film Festival of Venice.
