Eileen Walsh

Eileen Walsh ( born April 16, 1977 in Cork) is an Irish actress.

Life and career

Eileen Walsh was born in the port city situated in the south of Ireland Cork in 1977 and grew up there as well. She had initially no ambitions to become an actress. Finally, she decided to attend drama workshops and to follow the example of her older sister Catherine Walsh, who is also an actress. Her portrayal of the Runt in the stage version of Disco Pigs got rave reviews. She made her debut in front of the camera in 1996 staged by director Stephen Frears British comedy film fish & chips in a supporting role. In German-speaking Eileen Walsh is best known for her portrayal of Crispina in the British- Irish film drama The Magdalene Sisters from the year 2002. In 2008, she was honored at the Tribeca Film Festival for Best Actress for her role in Eden.

Eileen Walsh is married to the sculptor Stuart McCaffer since 2003 and has one child born 2005. The couple currently lives (2011) in Scotland.
