Eilífr Goðrúnarson

Eilífr Goðrúnarson was an Icelandic skald ( poet ) of the 10th and early 11th century. He worked at the court of Ladejarls Hákon ( Håkon Jarl ) in Norway. Eilífr wrote poems alongside with pagan mythical substances poems with Christian content.

Biographical data are only rudimentary in Snorri Sturluson handed down in the Skáldatal ( Skaldenverzeichnis ). Thus was Eilífr, still connected to the traditional pagan beliefs, 970-995 in charge where he wrote at the court Håkon Jarl the songs of praise to the god Thor, the Þórsdrápa. Later, he must be probably converted to Christianity because Christian materials in its traditional seal.
