Eisbach (Kocher)

Small waterfall in the Rein

The Rein is a right tributary of the digester in northeastern Baden- Württemberg.

Geography

Origin and Evolution

The Rein arises from the confluence of its headwaters Rotklingenbach and pan Bach on 455 m altitude, about 300 m south of Winzenheim hamlet, a little haven of Gaildorf. Both rivers originate around 1 km upstream from the pebbles of sandstone plateau of the Limpurger mountains, the slightly longer Rotklingenbach about 495 m, the pan Bach on 490 m height. The Rein flows from here on continually in a southerly to southeasterly direction, initially over 5 km in a narrow wooded valley, where he receives resistant blades vertically flowing streams. After approximately 6 km run, the valley begins more and more to a Wiesenaue to widen the creek here has flushed to about 200 m in length the hard Corbulabank and crashes at its end 2 m in depth. After about 8 km you will see the first houses of Sulzbach, the Rein still takes on his most water inflow coming from the left Irsbach, crosses Sulzbach and ends there after just over 9 km, now buried well 120 meters deep into the surrounding mountains, in the to meet him running facilities.

Catchment and watershed

The Rein has a wooded five -sixths of the catchment area of 18.2 km ², its eastern part outweighs strong. To the left of the stream is namely a broad plateau from which it or its tributaries drain the greater part, while the watershed is right to the digester by its close proximity usually less than 1 km; over the last half of the run there separated only a long, narrow, both sides of the comb quickly and steeply sloping mountain tongue of the Eisbachtal Kochertal.

The watershed of the Eisbach runs west from its mouth at first about the long ridge of the glans ridge mountain and pebble mountain to the north, here you are following soon built hiking path. The east of the village beginning in the stare Klingebach by Gaildorf - Bröckingen to the digester is here with this even the only beyond competing watercourses. Further north, such as the projection of the pebble mountain to the west, the mountain range between Rein and cooker widened to a small plateau in the middle of the still -called Forest Road about marks the edge of the Rein - catchment area. Here western border on the right- cooker inflows Bröckinger Bach, Bach trouble, Dahnbach and finally Haeger Bach. To the upper reaches of Haeger stream running through the steep Nonnenloch side of the climbing road L 1066 Gaildorf - Winzenheim hamlet makes the watershed arc to the east and then proceeds to its climax Herschel close to the edge of the escarpment edge to then in a slow Ostbogen to the northern boundary of the Winzenheim Weiler corridor bay withdrawing to a west- east to swing -developed forest path. Here the west and north borders on the catchment area of Eutendorfer Steppachs and its tributaries. The said forest road east meets just south of the lake reel whose discharge Amsbach now flows east to Fischach, on the coal road. This soon developed as a public road carbon road follows the river basin boundary on the whole, to the south and then southeast, to the end of the rail line at the former military depot in Hasenbühl. In this section, first the east compete headwaters Klingenbachstrasse and stem of the creek to Fischach withdrawing Breitenbach, then the direct Fischach inflow Weilersbach. The watershed follows then the carbon road which partly dirt road is here, in a southeasterly direction to Sulzbach- carbon forest and borders on the catchment area of the pulling to the upper Buhler blade Bach, first of its headwaters Holy Bach, at the end of its inflow from the Falch blade. Before the carbon clearing forests island, the watershed returns from the forest carbon road at right angles to the southwest and then going over the promontory on which the castle stands Schmiedelfeld, down into the valley to Eisbachmündung in Sulzbach. In this section, first competed in the east of the right Klingenbachstrasse inflow Hahnenbach in the square blade, then the boiler inflow Mill Brook in the south.

Geology and landscape

The Rein is over the entire length in the keuper and has a nearly linear gradient of 1.7%. Through the clear water of the base of the creek is almost everywhere to recognize with sandstone pebbles and sometimes a flint, to its impact slopes and the sides of the narrow notched side blades, there are many marl heaps without any vegetation cover, because there is often a large area to cancel parts. In a few places to cross the valley floor old, pierced dams, reservoirs behind the former have served as the blowing lakes for timber floating. Except in the uppermost stream where the stream a 1- km ² island grubbing around Winzenheim hamlet on the edge crosses together with the national road in 1066, is nowhere in the valley before Sulzbach human habitation or public driveway. However, over the greater part of a forest follows the creek that lead from which some connection paths to the surrounding forest heights. Several marked trails lead through the valley and the surrounding area.
