Eisberg (Stölzinger Gebirge)

The iceberg is 583 m above sea level. NN is the highest mountain in the Stölzinger Mountains in Osthessischen mountain country in the districts of Schwalm-Eder and Werra -Meißner in Hesse ( Germany ).

The mountain is located in the northeast part of North Hesse in Fulda- Werra- Bergland, a part of the Osthessischen highlands, on the border of the cities Spangenberg, hessian Lichtenau and forest Kappel with peak position in the area of forest Kappel and about 100 m southwest from the summit running border from Schwalm -Eder-Kreis for the Werra -Meißner -Kreis. He stands at the northern beginning of the Stölzinger height south of Reichenbach ( to Hessian Lichtenau ). Southeast of the Bergs is Hetzerode ( to Forest Kappel ), southwest Weidelbach ( to Spangenberg ) and west-northwest Wickersrode ( to Hessian Lichtenau ).

From a geomorphological point of view of the iceberg is a part of the northern boundary of the heavily wooded mountains Stölzinger, which in turn corresponds to the southeastern boundary of the sprawling nature parks Meissner Kaufunger forest.

On the southwest edge of the wooded iceberg rises with the Pfieffe an eastern or right-side tributary of the Fulda and on its northeast flank of Vocke creek that passes him north as the northern or right-sided Pfieffe inflow in a rather elongated curve to the left.

About 1.3 km northeast of the iceberg and southeast of Reichenbach, the dolomite rocks of the natural monument Large stones and 3 km northwest of the mountain rise is beyond the Vockebachtals, on the 522.3 m above sea level. NN high "Schlossberg" the ruins of Reichenbach.
