Eisendorf

Eisendorf is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg -Eckernförde in Schleswig -Holstein.

Geography and transport

Iron village is located about 18 km north of Neumünster and 18 km southeast of Rendsburg in Westensee Nature Park and the Brahmsee. The place can be reached via the 205 highway, the Federal Highway 7 and the railway line from Rendsburg to Neumünster.

History

Archaeological finds and megalithic tombs, of which only remnants remain, occupy a Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age settlement of the township.

Iron village was first mentioned in 1335 as Eyzendorpe. The place name probably refers to the occurrence of bog iron ore. On a smelting also point slag residues.

Policy

Since the local elections of 2013, the voters Community KWG has all nine seats in the municipal council.

Economy

The community is predominantly agricultural. On Brahmsee a cottage area has developed.
