Ejea de los Caballeros

The Ejea located in the Spanish Pyrenees foothills in the midst of a major grain -growing region lox de Caballeros is a town in the province of Zaragoza Aragón Autonomous Region. Ejea is also the capital of the comarca of Cinco Villas ( five towns ). The municipality had 17,139 inhabitants on 1 January 2013. It lies on the Rio Arba. To Ejea includes the villages of Bardenas, El Bayo, Farasdués, Pinsoro, Rivas, El sabinar, Santa Anastasia and Valareña.

History

The populated even before the era town whose fertile plains were used extensively in Roman times, was on the road from Caesar Augusta ( Zaragoza) to Pompaelo (Pamplona ). In ancient times the city was called Segia (also Segla or Setia ) with a bishop's seat, on the back is the titular Segia.

After the Moorish occupation he was finally reconquered by King Alfonso I ( Aragón ) and initially developed for frontier fortress against the Moors in 1105.
