Ejpovice

Ejpovice ( German Eipowitz ) is a municipality with 559 ( 2 October 2006) inhabitants in the Plzeň Region kraj (Czech Republic).

Location

The village is located west of Rokitzan, near the homonymous lake and a nature reserve.

History

The area was already inhabited during the period 300 before our era, the first written evidence date from the 11th and 12th century, when the village was one of the Pilsen citizens EPEM. 1331 bought crown wheel of Dobrzan the village and gave it to the Mary Magdalene Hospital in Pilsen.

In the 14th century a protective castle was built on the trade route from Bavaria to Bohemia. The village now went through several hands, including the Lords of Swan Mountain, in 1398 it was part of Ejpovic Benesch, 1505 Stanislaus Paul village ( Staněk z Pavlovic ). 1537 sold the masters of Totschnik Křimice ( Točníkové z Křimic ) Ejpovice to the city of Pilsen. In the 17th century began in the village of ore extraction, processing was performed in a water hammer mill.

The city was divided at this time between Rokitzan and Pilsen. This division is still visible today. The " Pilsner part " consists of baroque buildings, while the " Rokitzaner part " was created in the Renaissance style.
