Ekkehard Klemm

Ekkehard Klemm ( born December 1, 1958 in Karl- Marx-Stadt ) is a conductor, composer and rector of the University of Music Carl Maria von Weber Dresden.

Career

With ten years Klemm was a member of the Dresden Kreuz Choir, and remained so until 1977. Afterwards he studied from 1979 to 1984 at the University of Music Carl Maria von Weber Dresden in the subjects conducting with Siegfried and Hartmut Haenchen short, composition with Manfred Weiss, Rainer Kunad and Wilfried Krätzschmar and piano with Heidrun Richter. From 1984 to 1988 Klemm was first Kapellmeister and temporarily Music Director at the State Theatre Altenburg and from 1988 to 1994 chief conductor at the Theater Vorpommern Greifswald and at the Symphony Orchestra of Greifswald.

Klemm was from 1994 to 1996 chief conductor of the newly founded Theater Vorpommern and 1996-1999 conductor at the State Theatre on Gärtnerplatz Munich. From 1999 to 2004 he was deputy to the chief conductor at the State Theatre on Gaertnerplatz. In 2003 an appeal was made professor of conducting at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden. There he took over the management of the Conductor training and is the artistic director of the university symphony orchestra. In 2010 he was elected as Rector at this institute.

He was also a frequent guest conductor until 2007 at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz Munich. Since 2004 clamping artistic director of the Sing-Akademie Dresden eV

Musical interaction

Ekkehard Klemm gave guest performances at numerous national and international theaters and orchestras. As a theater conductor he promotes new music. He has conducted in Munich ( Prince Regent Theater and State Theater on Gaertnerplatz ), the world premieres of the works, when the time occurs on the shores of Vladimir Tarnopolski and The quake of Avet Terterjan and German premieres of the operas The Sun House of Einojuhani Rautavaara and The Maids by Peter Bengtson. In Munich he conducted the premieres of the operas The English Cat by Hans Werner Henze, Mayakovsky's death by Dieter Schnebel and Luigi Nono Intolleranza. In Dresden he brought the key opera by Wilfried Krätzschmar, the oratorios Confessio saxonica by Manfred Weiss and people's time by Lothar Voigtländer as well as many orchestral works, among others, by Lothar Voigtländer ( orchestral music III ), Alexander Keuk, Friedrich Goldmann (paths tangle outlook), Wolfgang- Andreas Schultz ( Archaic landscape with healing grief ), Nina Shenk, Jörg Herchet (James cantata from tHE SPIRITUAL YEAR chamber in the evening of the Staatskapelle ) and Christian Münch ( songs and harmonies ) premiered. He became a conductor who with great intensity not only the older Dresdner works ( Oberon by Carl Maria von Weber, first performance of the measurement of Weber with historical instruments, fist - scenes of Robert Schumann, Lukas - Passion by Rudolf Mauersberger ) accepted, but the working and teaching in Dresden composers regularly promotes and presents with great works in its programs. In the concerts of the university symphony orchestra sounded beyond a year at least one student of composition under Klemm line.

As a composer clamping joined, among others, with a string quartet (first performance in 1982 in Dresden, quartet of soloists of the Komische Oper Berlin ), with the ensemble piece Psalms (first performed in Jena, Altenburg, Greifswald and Jena in 1988 and 1989), with various chamber works, as well as 3 in 1 for four choirs and orchestra (premiered in 2006 by the Sing-Akademie Dresden and the Collegium 1704, Prague ) on texts of scripture, Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Christoph Huth iron in appearance.
