El Apóstol

El Apóstol ( German for The Apostle ) is an Argentine animated film from the year 1916. Considered as the first animated feature film length. The film was released in theaters on November 9, 1917. The work on the script and the director took over Quirino Cristiani. Many copies of the animated film went in 1926 in the vaults of Federico Valle in flames. Since then, the film than for posterity applies lost.

Movie Plot

The film is a parody of the then President Hipólito Yrigoyen. The President is empowered by the power of God Jupiter, hurling lightning, and thus the city of Buenos Aires goes up in flames.

Production information

For the film, 58,000 drawings were made, which were also presented with the same frame number. Some scenes are from Andrés Ducaud that equipped the movie with some special effects.

Because of its focus, the film had to be submitted to the Argentine authorities. Therefore jumped from the original producer, and Quirino Cristiani had to go looking for new producers.

In addition, the film was presented in Europe.
