El Fary

José Luis Cantero, known as El Fary, ( born August 20, 1937 in Madrid, † June 19, 2007 same place ) was a Spanish singer.

Career

Cantero grew up in a poor family in the district on the bullring of Las Ventas. With 13 years Cantero started to work in a bar. Later he was a delivery man for a fruit shop and worked with his brother as a gardener. Only during military service, he learned to read and write. At the end he made the driver's license and worked for seven years as a taxi driver. With the money he saved, along with the, which earned him a newly opened bar, he came on for his albums he still sold on the famous Rastro of Madrid personally.

The first success came in his mid-1980s with the song " El torito guapo " ("The beautiful little bull "). In the 1990s he was at the peak of his career, with the lead role in a Spanish television series and the song one of the most popular Spanish films, Torrente.

His stage name he chose after the Spanish singer Rafael Farina, whom he greatly admired.

El Fary has written throughout his life more than 200 songs, released over 30 albums and was the musical " Godfather" for many young talents.

The "King of the Rumba - Pop " died on 19 June 2007 at the age of 69 from lung cancer.
