Elastic therapeutic tape

The Kinesio Tape (short form also taping or taping ) is a method of treatment of painful diseases, especially of the muscle, tendon or skeletal disorders, for which there is no evidence of efficacy. The treatment is done by applying about five inches wide, elastic adhesive tape on cotton basis directly to the skin. There remain the tape from a few days up to two weeks. The tapes are produced in many different colors, so they can be applied according to the color theory of kinesiology.

Used, often manufacturer -dependent descriptions of the methods are for example: Kinesio, K -Active, Kinematic, Chiro, Pino, Medi - or K -Taping.

The effect is based, according to the advocates of the method on two main factors. Firstly, on the direct stimulation of skin receptors and on the other on a wavy fabric raising under the tape. This would increase under the tape, the blood and lymph circulation.

In order to achieve the desired effect, it is important that the tape is glued to exactly match the course of about supporting muscles and tendons. To treat specific complaints, however, a medical professional is always necessary.

After the meta of the journal Sports Medicine, the tapes have measurable and lasting effects that are more likely not due to placebo effects.

The statutory health insurance do not reimburse unlike most private funds that benefit.
