ElblÄ…g County

The powiat Elblaski is a powiat ( county ) in the western part of the Polish Warmian -Masurian with the county town of Elbląg ( Elbing ). The powiat counts over an area of ​​1430.55 km ² around 56,000 inhabitants.

Geography

Geographical Location

It surrounds the county seat Elblag, but remains acyclic, and is itself surrounded by the districts Braniewo, Lidzbark, Ostróda and Iława. In the West Pomerania province border runs, while in the north- west of Gdańsk Bay there access to the Baltic.

The county area includes the territory of the former German counties and Elbing Prussian Holland, who belonged until 1945 to the Prussian province of East Prussia. Before 1920, however, the district Elbing to West Prussia, the Prussian district of Holland belonged to East Prussia.
